Teddy Kollek served as the city's 
mayor from 1965 to 1993.  
Through this crucial period of 
change and development he sought 
and achieved a delicate balance in 
the complex ethnic/religious mosaic 
of this unique city, thereby gaining 
broad-based respect among the 
city's residents and beyond.
